Headline consumer inflation dropped slightly from 4.3% in August to 4.1% in Septemeber.
The CPI has hovered between 4% and 4.5% since December last year and has been below the Reserve Banks target of 6% since April 2017.
Statistics SA’s Patrick Kelly says main the main contributors were food and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as housing and utilities.
Kelly says consumers are paying more for wine, with the prices climbing steadily since the 2016 drought.
