CPI at an eight month low
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) slowed to 6.1 percent in March, down from 6.3 percent in February.
Inflation slowed more than expected, and is now at its lowest level in eight months.
The lower-than-expected CPI increases the likelihood that the Reserve Bank will keep interest rates on hold, despite recent shocks to the rand.
Stats SA said the CPI increased by 0.6 percent month-on-month in March 2017.
In March, the CPI for goods increased by 7.0 percent year-on-year (down from 7.1 percent in February), and the CPI for services increased by 5.4 percent year-on-year (down from 5.6 percent in February).
