A Crime Intelligence officer, facing charges of fraud, theft and corruption, is set to apply for bail in the Commercial Crimes Court on Friday.
Morris Tshabalala - also known as 'Captain KGB' was arrested earlier this week for allegedly defrauding the secret service account of over R500 000.
Tshabalala was arrested by officers from the Inpdendent Police Investigative Directorate as he was meeting with his parole office.
During his arrest, officers seized, among other things, a high security clearance access card for the ANC's January 8 statement in East London.
Tshabalala was previously arrested in connection with a cash-in-transit heist, and is also reportedly suspected to have been involved in the multi-million rand heist at OR Tambo International Airport last year.
His arrest comes in the same week that the suspended head of Crime Intelligence Richard Mdluli was removed from his post.
Police are meanwhile investigating the murder of another former crime intelligence officer whose body was found in his car in Kempton Park this week.
