Criminal charges laid after discovery of cloned tags at ANC NW conference

ANC NEC member Nomvula Mokonyane has confirmed that a criminal case has been opened in connection with the cloning of tags at its North West provincial conference.

It came as some delegates stormed the registration centre at Olympia Park Stadium in Rustenburg on Sunday, causing even further delays to the conference.
Mokonyane says the tags were meant to be distributed after the readjustment of delegates.
“A criminal case has been opened against those delegates and fortunately there is footage, and we hope that as the organisation we will be able to exercise discipline over and above laying criminal charges against them.
"Over and above the ones that were seen and circulated, and ones held by the ANC Youth League members we can confirm that these ones are not our tags.”

The past weekend’s conference, which was marred with drama and delays, concluded in the early hours of Monday morning.
Nono Maloyi has been elected as the new provincial chairperson while Lazarus Mokgosi has been elected as his deputy.
