The Department of Education in North West says a criminal charge has been laid against a grade 11 girl in connection with the bullying of a fellow pupil at Tiragalo Secondary School.
The incident, which occurred on Monday, was reported to the school by the victim’s parents the next day.
North West Education spokesperson Elias Malindi says a video has also been circulating on social media.
Malindi says the incident happened after school as the victim was absent from school on the day of the incident.
“Upon hearing of the incident, the school principal called in the perpetrator to enquire of the incident which she admitted to. She has been put on temporary suspension pending a formal disciplinary hearing by school management.
“The victim’s mother has opened a police case.”
