Cut ties with Guptas: Nzimande
Updated | By Maryke Vermaak
South African Communist Party (SACP) General Secretary Blade Nzimande has pleaded with government to cut all ties with the controversial Gupta family.
Nzimande was speaking on the second day of the party's 14th national congress in Boksburg.
Delivering his political report, Nzimande highlighted the dire state the ANC finds itself in.
Nzimande says the freedom so many fought for cannot just be given away.
"We never fought the struggle to liberate this country in order to hand over our economy to a family known as the Guptas and call that liberation," says Nzimande.

Nzimande was also scathing of those who do business with Gupta-owned companies, saying the government has to end the relationship.
"In many parts of the world, when information like that from the leaked Gupta emails comes out, people are jailed. Nothing is happening. When is it going to end? This state capture is brazen, unashamed. We can't only blame the Guptas. We must also blame those who are collaborating with the Guptas from inside our own movement."
