DA accuses ANC of ‘misusing’ SASSA for political gain

The DA in Gauteng has accused the ANC for using the South African Social Security Agency as a “political tool”.

The DA's Bridget Masango claims that, over the weekend, the ANC released a graphic showing a SASSA card with the caption, ‘The future is protecting the most vulnerable in society’.
Masango said the ANC is demonstrating its desperation to cling to power at any cost.
This follows after an incident where the image of Deputy Chief Justice Mandisa Maya was improperly used in a poster encouraging South Africans to register to vote for the ANC.
"The ANC's repeated attempts to co-opt state entities for political campaigning reveal a deep-seated desperation within the party," said Masango.
"We call on the ANC to desist from such tactics and to engage in fair and transparent political competition.
"The people of South Africa deserve better than a government that seeks to manipulate public institutions for its own benefit. We urge all political parties to respect the independence of state institutions and refrain from exploiting them for partisan purposes."
