DA approaches FIFA on Jordaan dual roles
Updated | By Olivia Phalaetsile

DA shadow Minister of Sports Solly Malatsi says since SAFA is best placed to determine whether Jordaan can continue both roles.
“FIFA, as the global controlling body of football, is best placed to determine whether or not he should continue with both roles,” he says.
Opposition parties have slammed the decision by the ANC to appoint Jordaan as mayor of the crippled municipality.
The congress of the people said Jordaan made a big mistake accepting the job, with the Economic Freedom Fighters calling on Jordaan to resign as SAFA president.
SAFA has reportedly said he does not need to resign since his position at SAFA is non-executive and he does not get paid.
Malatsi says whether or not SAFA pays him is beside the point.
“Dr. Jordaan says he has no obligation to recuse himself from SAFA because he is ‘not paid’ by the football association. Being paid or not has nothing to do with Dr Jordaan's apparent violation of SAFA and FIFA's stance on political neutrality,” he says.
