DA denies involvement in Mogale City land invasions

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has refuted reports that one of its youth leaders lead a deadly land invasion in Mogale City, west of Johannesburg.

A 16-year-old was stabbed to death after he apparently asked the land invaders not to torch a local high school in Munsieville on Friday.
According to Mogale City Local Municipality spokesperson, Nkosana Zali, a group calling itself Top Ten in Pangoville Informal Settlement invaded private land, led by DA member Lucas Mohlobodi.
The DA's Alan Fuchs denied the reports, stating that Mohlobodi's membership had expired.
"We as the DA will never allow someone to take part in illegal activities," said Fuchs.
But Zali is adamant that the youth leader was involved.
"We have people's property entrusted to us and we will not hand over authority over public assets to people because they speak too loud or can burn more tyres than others."
Police have arrested a 28-year-old suspect, who is expected to appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates Court on Monday.
"Krugersdorp SAPS was called to a scene. On arrival they found a 16-year-old male laying on the ground with a stab wound. Paramedics were called to the scene, the man was certified dead," said Krugersdorp police spokesperson Tshepiso Mashale.
