DA in Gauteng ‘surprised’ by Abel Tau's sudden resignation

Provincial leader John Moodey says he received the resignation letter on Thursday morning.

"It came to me as a surprise, of course, we respect his freedom of association and his choice to leave the DA and join another political organisation, we wish him well," said Moodey.
Tau, who is former acting Tshwane mayor, announced he will be joining former Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba's new party The People's Dialogue.

He cited service delivery failures by the DA-led administration as the reason.
Moodey said the DA will continue to do its best in ensuring the best service delivery for Tshwane.
