DA: New Finance Minister Godongwana must clear up fraud allegations
Democratic Alliance (DA) leader John Steenhuisen says newly appointed Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana should start by clearing up details of his resignation back in 2012.
Godongwana was part of several ministers who were appointed in President Cyril Ramaphosa's new cabinet.
Ramaphosa announced his highly-anticipated cabinet reshuffle on Thursday evening.
In 2012, Godongwana resigned over a R100 million loan linked to Canyon Springs.
The money, which was never repaid, was from a clothing industry worker’s pension.

“He should also start his term by clearing up the details of his resignation as Deputy Minister of Economic Development back in 2012 amid a massive fraud scandal. We need to know that our Finance Minister is beyond reproach, and for this we need his full disclosure.”
