DA launches 2024 voter registration campaign in Soweto

The Democratic Alliance (DA) launched its 2024 voter registration campaign in Soweto on Tuesday.
Party leader, John Steenhuisen and party chairperson in Gauteng, Solly Msimanga launched this at the Soweto State Theatre where some party supporters braved the province’s icy weather.
Steenhuisen told party supporters that it’s only the blue people (DA) that have the capacity to change the lives of South Africans come 2024.
“If we all stand together - not black people, not white people, not Indian people - we are blue people and the blue people are going to bring about the change here in South Africa,” he said.
The DA says early predictions show that the ANC, especially in Gauteng, will not receive an outright majority come 2024.
Such predictions have seen parties like the DA engage with other political parties over a moonshot pact.
This is in a bid to govern alongside other smaller political parties in Gauteng after next year’s elections.
Steenhuisen told DA supporters that the moonshot pact is the only way to ensure that the lives of Gauteng residents can improve.
“This is the economic powerhouse of South Africa, and if the moonshot pact can get us over 50% here in Gauteng in the next election, can you imagine what the change we could bring to this province?” he said.
