DA leadership welcomes Mokgalapa departure

Democratic Alliance (DA) interim leader John Steenhuisen
says the party federal council has welcomed the resignation of Stevens
Mokgalapa as Tshwane mayor.
The party's leadership met over the past two days at the DA's Nkululeko House headquarters in Johannesburg.
Steenhuisen added that the party is satisfied with the selection of Randall Williams as the party’s mayoral candidate for the capital city.
"Williams has been a long-serving councillor, who served as a member of the city's Mayoral Committee for Economic Development and Spatial Planning and as chairman of the Municipal Appeals Tribunal between 2016 and 2019," says Steenhuisen.
The election of a new mayor in Tshwane is expected to take place next week.
“The council believes that Williams is an excellent mayoral candidate who stands ready to continue the DA-led coalition programme of progress and delivery made in the city,” said Steenhuisen.
He added the party continues to be committed to putting the people of Tshwane first.
