DA: Mkhwebane is guilty of misconduct
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
The Democratic Alliance (DA) has instituted a process to remove Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, claiming she is not fit for her post.
The DA has written to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Baleka Mbete, requesting that she expedite the process to remove the Public Protector in terms of Section 194 of the Constitution.
According to the main opposition,Mkhwebane is highly incompetent, guilty of misconduct and the incapacity to run the office of the Public Protector.
The DA's Glynnis Breytenbach argues Mkhwebane should be fired because she tarnished the reputation and integrity of the Chapter 9 institution.

The opposition intensified its call for her removal after the Pretoria High Court set aside Mkhwebane's controversial Bankorp-CIEX report, in which she recommended that ABSA pay back more than R1 billion.
"She has issued bad report after bad report. South Africa deserves an objective Public Protector who is committed to upholding the rights of all citizens and defending them without fear or favour and Mkhwebane has proved she is not the right fit," says Breytenbach.
Mkhwebane's office responded to the judgement over the weekend, calling it "shocking".
