The Democratic Alliance (DA) says it is appalled by the shooting
of Member of Parliament (MP), Cameron Mackenzie.
Mackenzie was shot and wounded outside the Dainfern Ridge Estate in Midrand, north of Johannesburg on Tuesday.
The DA's Gauteng provincial chairperson, Mike Moriarty says the shooting of a leading MP shows that no one is safe in South Africa.
Moriarty says Mackenzie, who was shot in the shoulder, is recovering well.
"We will continue to support him and pray for recovery very soon," says Moriarty.

Gauteng police say they have launched a manhunt for the suspects involved in the attempted robbery.
Gauteng police spokesperson, Mathapelo Peter, says preliminary reports suggest that a red VW Golf followed the victim up to the residential complex.
"A suspect allegedly alighted from the Golf and followed the victim into the complex,” says Peters.
“A struggle between the victim and suspect ensued, and a shot was allegedly fired by the suspect, striking the victim on his upper body."
She adds the suspect then ran and jumped into the Golf before driving off.
Police investigations are continuing.
