DA no longer marching to Luthuli House
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The Democratic Alliance (DA) says it will no longer march to the African National Congress (ANC) headquarters at Luthuli House on Friday, to demand the removal of President Jacob Zuma.
The party says the decision was made to alter the route, after threats of violence were made by members of the ANC Youth League.
"We had a meeting with the South African Police Service this morning, they informed us they would be unable to protect our marches given the threats of violence from the ANC and its alliance structures," says the DA's Seabe.
Seabe says to ensure the safety of marchers, they will now march from the Westgate Transport hub in Johannesburg to Mary Fitzgerald Square.
ANC stalwarts, Cosatu and the SACP have also called for Zuma to be removed.
