Thousands of Democratic Alliance (DA) members flooded the Johannesburg CBD on Wednesday for the unveiling of the party’s new election billboard.
The party marched in the city centre “to mourn the deaths of South Africans who lost their lives during the Life Esidimeni saga, the Marikana massacre and pit toilets in schools”.
The organization marched from the Westgate Transport Hub to Pat Mbatha Busway to unveil the party’s new billboard.

DA leader Maimane, speaking in Sesotho and Setswana, described the billboard as a tombstone for those who lost their lives.
“People going to say this billboard is politicking, it a tombstone, a memorial of all South Africans who are killed by this ANC government.”

Maimane said the African National Congress’ (ANC) Gauteng chairperson David Makhura has the blood of the more than 140 Life Esidimeni victims on his hands.
“It was not a natural disaster, it was an ANC disaster.”
Maimane urged supporters to go out and register to vote for the upcoming national elections.
