DA wants NPA to explain Phala Phala decision in Parliament
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
The DA said it will request the National Prosecuting Authority to appear before Parliament to explain the decision to not prosecute President Cyril Ramaphosa over the Phala Phala theft scandal.

On Thursday, Limpopo NPA boss Mukhali Thenga said there is no reasonable prospect of a successful prosecution based on evidence contained in the docket.
In 2022, former spy boss Arthur Fraser accused Ramaphosa and head of his protection services Major General Wally Roode of attempting to cover up the theft of thousands of US dollars from the farm in February 2020.
Da leader John Steenhuisen said the NPA will have to appear before the Justice Portfolio Committee soon.
The DA briefed the media on Friday in Johannesburg.
"I think that there does need to be a greater explanation of the decision when a decision like this is made, and it has obvious implications that reach right the way to the very top of government," said Steenhuisen.
"I believe that the Justice Portfolio Committee in Parliament should be the place where the NPA come and share with those who are exercised with conducting oversight of them, are able to understand the decisions there.
"Once that information is then given, it will obviously determine how you proceed going forward."
