DA to lay criminal charges against EFF over Tshwane council chaos

The DA in Tshwane is set to lay criminal charges against the EFF following the chaos at Thursday’s council meeting.

Tshwane Mayor Cilliers Brink has accused the red berets of engaging in act of violence and criminality.
The DA’s Tshwane caucus spokesperson Kwena Moloto said they believe the EFF's behaviour in council was unacceptable.
"DA councillors were assaulted and hit with projectiles thrown by EFF councillors. This is an unacceptable display of behaviour from the EFF, who have once again proven that they have little regard for our democratic institutions".
The EFF in Tshwane is demanding the reinstatement of more than 100 South African Municipal Workers Union members who were fired for participating in an unprotected strike.
But Moloto said EFF's call for the reinstatement of municipal workers is an endorsement of violence.
"Their violent behaviour today has confirmed that violence is at the core of who the EFF are,” he added.
