Dali Tambo was speaking outside Madikizela-Mandela's home in Orlando West.

He was flanked by other members of the Tambo family, who went to pay their respects to the Madikizela and Mandela families.

He says his parents introduced Madikizela-Mandela to her former husband Nelson Mandela.

"I think its sad, but we must celebrate because you don’t get a lot of Winnie Mandela’s no matter what country you are. We are seeing the passing of an era and she was like a rare tiger and this is   sort of like the extinction of those tiger species.”

"I loved her as that beautiful person who was so gracious and loving. She asked me to come home, she wants to talk to me. I tried but she was always in and out of hospital," Tambo says. .

Tambo says while nobody is perfect, the good done by Madikizela-Mandela far outweighs the bad. He says just because you are part of a political struggle, it does not mean you are without fault.
