Dam levels still a concern, but Lesotho water supply restoration on track

The Department of Water and Sanitation's spokesperson, Sputnik Ratau says while South Africa has experienced widespread rain, dam levels are still worrying low.

"There are pockets that have improved a bit, but really not too much," says Ratau.
He says national averages for damn levels are still declining week on week.

"We have quite a number of our dams that are still battling in terms of recharge," explains Ratau.
However, he says the process of reconnecting to the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP) tunnel system is on track for the beginning of December.
"Maintenance work is completed, and from the 20th we started recharging the tunnel, but obviously it will take some time before the water actually flows through," says Ratau.
