DA in Tshwane calls for re-evaluation of GNU purpose amid Brink ousting
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
The DA in Tshwane believes the party needs to re-evaluate its role in the government of national unity.

It comes after the ANC endorsed ActionSA nominee Nasiphi Moya as the new mayor of Tshwane.
If elected, she will replace the DA’s Cilliers Brink, who was removed following an ANC-sponsored motion of no confidence.
The EFF and other smaller parties also supported the endorsement.
Relations between the ANC and the DA have been strained in Gauteng despite the relative stability of their working arrangement at a national level.
The DA had previously threatened to leave the Government of National Unity over the ousting of Brink.
Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s council meeting to elect a new mayor, the DA’s Tshwane spokesperson, Kwena Moloto, said he believes there is an anti-GNU faction in the ANC.
"I think that the DA is going to have to truly reflect on the GNU. Over the past few months we were removed from two municipalities in the Western Cape backed by the ANC.
"We've seen disagreements around the BELA Bill and how we've been removed inside the capital city.
"Are we simply propping up an ANC government that doesn't seem to accept that they didn't get 50% in the name of unity? Or is the GNU really having an impact on the lives of the residents of South Africa?"
