Psychologist Jonathan Schotlz testified yesterday about the former Paralympian's emotional state.

Pistorius is being re-sentenced after his initial conviction of culpable homicide was converted to one of murder on appeal.

Schotlz provided a report a report to the court stipulating Pistorius' mental state.

He found the former Paralympian suffered from severe post traumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety.

He argued if Pistorius was his patient, he would be hospitalised rather than imprisoned, describing him as a broken man.

Prosecutor Gerrie Nel disagreed, saying Pistorius had granted an interview to international media but can't testify in court.

He also questioned Schotlz's report which states Pistorius was unlikely to re-offend or act out violently, arguing that prison psychiatrist thought he was initially behaving aggressively and was verbally abusive.

Nel concluded by arguing that Schotlz was biased towards Pistorius and not objective.
