The day the City of Cape Town's taps are set to run dry has been pushed back by four days.
Day Zero is now set for April 16.
Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane commended the city's residents for their efforts in reducing water consumption.
The #DefeatDayZero team held a media briefing in Cape Town on Tuesday.
"We have shown this week that we can do it. We've brought down consumption, and we've pushed back day zero. If we continue to cut consumption more, we can defeat day zero altogether."
Maimane says it had set a target of only using 450 million litres per day.
