The country will on Thursday know how well the Class of 2023 fared when the Department of Basic Education releases the national and provincial pass rates.

Basic Education director-general Mathanzima Mweli says the department is ready for the official announcement.
"We are more than ready. We are over the moon," said Mweli.
"The communities, teachers, parents and pupils worked very hard. I saw them when we were monitoring various projects in rural areas and townships. Every Saturday, pupils went to school without fail.
"We are cautiously optimistic about what the minister is going to say," he said.
The top achievers of the Class of 2023 will be honoured at a breakfast gathering with Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga in Randburg on Thursday morning.
Motshekga will then announce the results at 6pm .
