Two traffic officers were seriously injured when a drunk driver crashed his bakkie into their car in Durban on Saturday evening, also seriously injuring himself.
KwaZulu-Natal Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) spokeswoman Zinhle Mngomezulu said ?the two RTI officers were injured when their vehicle was rear-ended by the bakkie on the N2 north-bound near the KwaMashu Highway off-ramp.
She said the bakkie driver had been charged at the Greenwood police station. ?The two RTI officers had pulled over a lorry when the accident happened.
Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said: “Reports indicate that traffic officers were busy with a truck at the side of the highway when a bakkie veered off the road and crashed into them.”
All three were taken to Umhlanga Hospital in a serious condition, Botha said.
