De Lille adamant upgrades to her home not irregular

Cape Town mayor Patricia de Lille says she is a victim of false allegations which has left her family traumatised.

The Democratic Alliance's (DA) Federal Executive is probing allegations of fraud against de Lille for allegedly using state funds to upgrade her Pinelands home.
De Lille has submitted reasons on why she should not step down as mayor but claims that she has done nothing wrong.
She says an Auditor-General report has proved that she did nothing unlawful.

"I have always known right from the beginning that I have paid myself for any renovations to my house. In fact, I have closed a very big pool of mine to save water, and put paving over it. I can show every the receipt of every cent I have spent in renovating my house."
The City of Cape Town has however, following security assessment by the South African Police Service (SAPS), paid more than R140 000 for security gates and electric fencing.

De Lille has since instituted civil law suit against those who've accused her of using taxpayer's money to upgrade her home.
