De Lille’s supposed final address to council came amid reports that she might backtrack on her agreement with the Democratic Alliance (DA) to vacate her position at the end of October.

Earlier in the year, De Lille was accused of spending the city's funds on upgrading security at her personal home.

This led to some in the DA calling for her removal as mayor.

The city lodged an investigation into De Lille's conduct as the mayor of the city.

On Thursday the investigation report by law firm Bowman and Gillfillan, is set to be tabled in front of the city's council setting.

De Lille, however, remains adamant that she is not guilty of any corruption.

"I have been fighting corruption all my life, and I will not allow anyone to smear my name," said De Lille.

De Lille told the council sitting that her name has become synonymous with fighting corrupting in the country.

She said she would be pursuing legal action against those who shared a fake report in the media implicating her in corruption.
