Deadline of August to inoculate all police officers
Thursday marks the official start of the Covid-19 vaccine campaign targeting the country's police officers.
The programme will initially be rolled out in seven of the nine provinces on Thursday.
Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal will start rolling out their jabs on Friday.
National police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says they have set themselves a deadline of August to inoculate all members.
"The provincial vaccination drive of SAPS members and personal kicks off today in seven provinces and will continue up until the 1st of August.
"While the number of vaccinated members thus far consists of members in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal will launch their separate campaigns on Friday."
A total of 3 510 members and supporting staff have received the jab since the launch of the campaign on Monday.
