North West police have confirmed that two more pupils have died after a truck crashed into a school in Potchefstroom.
The vehicle ploughed through the fence and landed in a parking lot on Thursday afternoon.
The pupils, who are from Vyfhoek Primary School, were waiting for their school transport when the truck lost control and burst through a fence, knocking them down.
Four children died on impact while another passed away in the ambulance.
Police spokesperson Aafje Botma said the two children succumbed to their injuries last night, bringing the death toll to seven.
A case of culpable homicide is being investigated.
“The mini truck is reported to have been travelling from Potchefstroom towards the Johannesburg direction on the N12 road and capsized after a front wheel tyre burst and the driver lost control of the vehicle,” said North West Education spokesperson Elias Malindi.
