Zuma addressed a victory celebration in eDumbe in northern KZN yesterday- a municipality the party won for the first time in the history of the Local Government Elections.

Speaking in isiZulu, President Zuma said heading to the courts in attempts to scare the ANC would not work and told his supporters that he is not afraid to go to jail.

Zuma explained that he's used to being arrested, having spent years in prison.

It was the President's first public appearance since the release of the former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela's State of Capture Report, which deals with the alleged influence the controversial Gupta family has had in the appointment of cabinet ministers.

The report calls for a judicial commission of inquiry into the allegations.

The state capture saga is the latest in a series of scandals involving the president, who is facing growing calls for him to resign.

But President Zuma took a defiant stance yesterday. He also took a swipe at former President Thabo Mbeki for penning an open letter calling on him to listen to the ANC stalwarts who've raised concerns about him.

Zuma questioned how a letter can be addressed to one person yet it's sent to the nation.
