Demanding Zuma’s exit is dictatorial, says Dlamini
Updated | By ANA
ANC Women’s League president Bathabile Dlamini on Thursday said those who had marched calling for President Jacob Zuma’s removal were in support of a dictatorship.
Dlamini, who was attending an event commemorating World Population Day in her capacity ?as social development minister, said: “Let him finish his term and then you can vote [for a new leader].”
Dlamini said that any attempt to remove the president before the end of his term of office would set a dangerous precedent.
“The ANC suffered because of dictatorship.”
She said that the ballot box was the way that leadership changes should be effected in a constitutional democracy.
Asked about the possibility of Zuma’s ex- wife and current AU Commission Chair Nkosazana Zuma becoming the country’s next president, Dlamini said that women had always been at the centre of the ANC’s struggle to overthrow apartheid.
She said she believed the country was ready for a female president who could do as well as her male predecessors.
