Denel workers to down tools over pay uncertainty
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
Workers at the country's defence contractor are going on strike on Wednesday, amidst uncertainty over workers' salaries.
Employees affiliated with trade union, Solidarity, will protest outside Denel's headquarters.
"It (Denel) will be able to pay salaries in October, but the payments of November salaries and of 13th cheques are in jeopardy," says the trade union's Johan Botha.
The embattled arms dealer also struggled to pay management their salaries at the end of September.
"It is simply outrages for Denel to expect that workers will continue working not knowing whether they will receive a salary next month," explains Botha.
A memorandum and a petition to the Denel Board will be handed over following the protest action.

Denel has previously admitted that it is suffering severe cash flow problems.
Spokesperson for the Denel Group, Vuyelwa Qinga, said earlier they are in talks with their stakeholders, including Public Enterprises Minister, Pravin Gordhan over the liquidity crisis.
