Department: All textbooks in Limpopo will be delivered soon
Updated | By Silindelo Masikane
The Department of Education in Limpopo has assured parents and learners that all textbooks and stationary will be delivered by the end of the week.
The Human Right commission has given the minister until today to deliver all textbooks, saying that the department's failure to ensure that pupils have all their prescribed textbooks is a violation of their human rights.
However, speaking on the sidelines of the education lekgotla in Pretoria, Basic Education Minister, Angie Motshekga said the issue is a provincial competency.
Motshekga says the focus of the lekgotla is to tackle, amongst other issues, low participation rates and poor learner outcomes in Mathematics, Physical Science and Languages in order to improve outputs of the schooling system.

The three-day lekgotla, organised by the Department of Basic Education, is aimed at reflecting on the performance of the entire basic education sector over the years.
Limpopo education MEC Ishmail Kgatshepe says delivery is on track.
President Jacob Zuma is scheduled to address the Lekgotla today.
