De Ruyter to reimburse Pretoria bookstore for stolen copies of memoir

The owner of Pretoria-based store Graffiti Books says former Eskom CEO André de Ruyter has offered to reimburse her for the stolen copies of his tell-all book.
Leonie van Rensburg says 15 copies of De Ruyter’s book were stolen during a break-in on Thursday.
The theft of the copies of Truth to Power: My Three Years Inside Eskom cost the store more than R5000.
“I got a phone call yesterday informing me that Andre de Ruyter graciously decided that he will reimburse the store with 15 copies of his book to make up for the loss.
“When something like this happens to you, you are down in the dumps and know that there is nothing you can do about it but then the positive ring to it is that there are still very good people out there and we really thank Mr de Ruyter for his generosity,” said van Rensburg.
The book sold some 16 000 copies in its first week, breaking the record set by Jacques Pauw’s The President’s Keepers.
