Disputes at Roodepoort SASSA offices
Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
The Democratic Alliance (DA)
says a dispute between workers and employers at the Roodepoort office of
the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has led to a failure to
process grant applications.

DA MP Bridget Masango visited the offices .
Masango says her office has over the past few months received several phone calls from frustrated grant recipients.
She says workers are demanding a salary increase for the extra work they will be doing - work that was previously done by Cash Payment Services (CPS).
Masango says the problem with the system is a smoke screen for the bigger dispute in the office.
She says upon arrival there were no new beneficiaries waiting to be serviced because for months there has been no services.
"There was no people on the benches because there was no biometrics being done," Masango says.
She says the dispute is going to be heard in court on October 9 and hopes the issues will be resolved
