DJ Donald ‘Duck’ Sebolai sentencing for murder under way
Updated | By ANA
Sentencing proceedings of former radio presenter DJ Donald “Duck” Sebolai began on Wednesday, with Professor Rachel Jewkes, who has done studies on violence against women, testifying in the High Court sitting in Palm Ridge.
Testifying for the state in aggravation of sentencing Jewkes, who is a director of the Gender Health Research unit and has done research since 1995 on gender violence against women gave the court information on violence against women.
Jewkes read out statistics and findings to the court on intimate partner violence.
Earlier Sebolai’s defence team told the court that they had had difficulty securing the services of a social worker to assist with mitigation before sentence.
As a result, Judge Cassim Moosa allowed the state to proceed with their aggravating argument.
