DJ, Donald Sebolai to be sentenced
Updated | By Silindelo Masikane
The sentencing of convicted murderer Donald Sebolai will continue in the High Court sitting in Palm Ridge on Thursday.
In October last year, Sebolai was convicted of murdering his girlfriend Dolly Tshabalala in his Soweto flat in June 2014.
Testifying in mitigation of sentence on Wednesday, his mother Elizabeth Sebolai-Selekane said she was still in shock. She said since her son was born, it was the first time in his life that he was arrested.
Sebolai stabbed Tshabalala in the pelvic area and left her to bleed to death on his bed where after he went on the run for eight days.
He has maintained that he didn't kill Tshabalala and that she was stabbed as the pair of them were wrestling for a knife which she had used to cut his fingers.
During the murder trial, Sebolai admitted in court that he should have rushed his girlfriend, Dolly Tshabalala to hospital after she was stabbed.
He added that he was too traumatised when he realised he too had been wounded and thus failed to do more to try and save Tshabalala's life.
The former Jozi FM DJ says he never intended for her to die.
