Dlamini from prison: "Free, decolonised education can save us”
Updated | By Olivia Phalaetsile
Former Wits SRC President Mcebo Dlamini says his experience
in prison has reminded him of the importance of free,
decolonised education.

In a message via his lawyer and the Wits SRC, Dlamini says students must remember they are members of society before they are students.
“We have a collective responsibility to restore the dignity of the black child, only then we can affirm that we are truly free.”

Dlamini is being held at the Johannesburg Central Prison.
His court case is set to start on 15 November.
He is facing several charges - including assaulting a police officer and theft.
He was earlier denied bail.
