He briefly appeared in the Johannesburg magistrate's court on Tuesday.

Dlamini says the state does not have a case against him or any of the other #FeesMustFall activists.

"They are going to be embarrassed during the trial and they are going to owe us a lot of money. They are also going to owe our advocates because they will lose these cases with costs."

Dlamini adds that his legal costs are accumulating and he is worried it might amount to a huge sum of money by the end of the trial.

"We haven't paid a single cent since the cases have started... they have been doing it pro bono."

Dlamini says irrespective of the cases dragging, #FeesMustFall campaigners will not stop.

Politics is a calling, says Dlamini, it is like "being possessed by ancestors and those superpowers."

Dlamini says he does not understand they are still being prosecuted when the government has announced free education for the poor.

"If the government says there's free education in South Africa, why are you prosecuting those who fought for it?"

Dlamini faces a long list of charges including theft, assault, public violence and malicious damage to property.

The charges are in connection with the protests on campuses in October 2016.

Dlamini has declined the states proposed plea bargain, stating accepting the plea bargain will discourage activism in the country.

"It will subject young activities, those following us, to go back to the honeymoon of 1994," says Dlamini.

He has called on the government to decentralise education and work towards better infrastructures for students not to end up sleeping in toilets and libraries.
