Updated | By Gaopalelwe Phalaetsile
Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma says the government is taking a cautious approach to the sale of alcohol and the relaxing of the curfew.
Dlamini-Zuma briefed the media on the level 1 regulations in Pretoria on Friday.
Alcohol will be now be sold from Monday to Friday, but bottle stores will still be forced to close their doors over weekend.
The curfew has been relaxed rather than abolished, with South Africans expected to stay at home between 12 pm and 4 am.

"When liquor was open 24 hours and there were no restrictions the numbers went up, and the hospitals were under pressure,” Dlamini-Zuma said.
“Now the hospitals are not so much under pressure. You can see that the liquor sales are being opened gradually because the government is trying to be cautious as we move forward.”
