DNA tests needed in rape case
The Seshego Magistrate's Court in Limpopo on Friday ordered DNA tests on a police officer accused of raping a woman.
The court was told the tests and an examination of Amos Musinyali were outstanding factors in the investigation, a Sapa correspondent reported.
"[I] am requesting this court to postpone this case for a shorter period for the blood samples to be withdrawn from the accused on Tuesday," said the prosecutor.
Defence lawyer Sello Phihlela said Musinyali would be available on Tuesday for the tests.
He was arrested in January after allegedly raping a woman who apparently went to him for spiritual counselling.
He allegedly helped the woman at his home, and then demanded sex, in January while he was off-duty. He is out on R1500 bail.
He is based at the Seshego police station and is also accused of corruption for allegedly trying to bribe his colleagues during his arrest. He allegedly offered
R3000 for them to let the matter go.
The rape trial was postponed to June 13, and the corruption one to July 18.
