Doctors hand over Zuma’s medical report to NPA
Updated | By Nokukhanya N Mntambo
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says it has received former president Jacob Zuma’s medical records after his team missed last week’s deadline.
The file is believed to contain Zuma’s health status and details of his fitness to stand trial.
The 79-year-old politician was transferred from Estcourt prison to a military hospital earlier this month, only days before he was set to appear in the Pietermaritzburg High Court to answer to the charges of corruption related to the arms deal.
He was admitted to hospital following a routine check-up while serving a 15-month jail term at the KwaZulu-Natal prison for contempt of court.
NPA spokesperson Mthunzi Mhaga confirmed receipt of the medical report on Friday.
“Because the document is a confidential one, we will not make any further comments until the matter is resolved in court.”
