Donkey carts used to smuggle goods from Zim
Updated | By MornéJK
Enterprising criminals have taken to using a donkey cart to smuggle goods between Zimbabwe and South Africa.
The Provincial Police Commissioner in Limpopo. Lt.Gen. Nneke Ledwaba took part in an operation along the border between the two countries, and found the old-school transport being used to smuggle goods.
According to a statement from SAPS, a donkey cart was spotted from a police helicopter.
"The donkey cart was conveying goods towards the Zimbabwe side of the Limpopo River," SAPS says in a statement.
Police say when the helicopter landed on the banks of the Limpopo River, the suspects fled into Zimbabwe leaving the donkeys and the cart behind.

Last week, a motor vehicle that was reported stolen in Durban was abandoned by the suspects in the middle of the Limpopo River together with five donkeys that were used to pull it through the water," SAPS says.
The festive season anti-crime operation continues along the border in a bid to curb crime in the area.
