Don't be in the dark - know where to get your load-shedding info
With Eskom in its third day of load-shedding, most customers have been left in the dark about when and for how long the power outages will last.
The power utility has warned that the rolling black outs may last until April.
Since then, South Africans were shocked when the dreaded system was upgraded to stage 4 on Monday afternoon.
By Tuesday, the load-shedding hours were also extended to span 15 hours of the day.

The app provides updates on load-shedding as well as municipality contact information for its municipal customers.

Eskom spokesperson, Khulu Phasiwe, is active on twitter and regularly informs the public, but doesn't necessarily engage in any questions or discussions that arise on the social network.

Eskom SePush, developed by Dan Wells and Herman Maritz, is a free app that provides push notifications for load shedding schedules in your desired location. With over 50 000 areas including City of Cape Town, City of Johannesburg, Tshwane Metro, Ethekwini Municipality and Buffalo City, the app is available on Google Play store and the App store on IOS.
My City Power offers its customers self service functions which include logging of faults and viewing Load Shedding schedules. Also available on their website (City Power website) and their official twitter pages, City Power provides updates.
Load Shedding Notifier monitors the current Eskom load-shedding status and notifies the user if the power is scheduled to go off in a specific area. While not all areas are available, users have the option of requesting that app developers include their desired areas. This app is also available on Google Play store and the App store on IOS.
