‘Don’t listen to what they say’ - Misuzulu stands firm amid royal feud

AmaZulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini says he won’t allow people being used by external forces to divide the nation.

Misuzulu gave his first address as the newly crowned king on Saturday after he performed the traditional coronation ceremony of entering the kraal.
But before the start of the ceremony, two of late King Goodwill Zwelithini's daughters, Princesses Ntandoyenkosi and Ntombizosuthu, filed a last minute urgent court application to halt the proceedings.
The matter was struck off the court roll and deemed as not urgent by the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Saturday.
The monarch also threw a jab at his brothers who are claiming to be the rightful heirs to the throne.
“I know that you are all aware of the feud in the royal family,” Misuzulu said.
“But I ask you that with all you see and hear from the media from those who are disputing the throne, please give them an ear, but do not listen to what they say.”
Last weekend, King Zwelithini's eldest son Prince Simakade performed a similar ceremony at Enyokeni Royal Palace, just a week before King Misuzulu.
On Thursday, the brothers of the late king also put forth the name of Prince Buzabazi, as the person they have chosen to rule.
AmaZulu Prime Minister Mangosuthu Buthelezi and the royal elders described the attempts by the other princes as a joke.
“As a young man, I sought the advice of my elders this week, asking if it’s possible that the certificate of the King can be retracted, the answer was no,” the new king explained.
“Once it’s out, that’s it, there cannot be two or three certificates issued out. It’s only done once.”
