New court bid to halt Zulu king's coronation
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
The High Court in Pietermaritzburg will this morning hear an urgent application seeking to interdict the coronation of Prince Misuzulu kaZwelethini as the new king of the Zulu nation.
The last-minute application has been filed by the two daughters of the late King Goodwill Zwelethini kaBhekuzulu, Princesses Ntandoyenkosi Zulu and Ntombizosuthu Zulu-Duma.
They want the High Court to halt the coronation, while the case of Zwelethini's will is being heard in the Supreme Court of Appeal.
The respondents in the legal battle are Prince Misuzulu Zulu, Prince Mangosutho Buthelezi, Members of the Royal Family, KwaZulu-Natal premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube and President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Traditional ceremonies kicked off already early this morning to prepare for today's ceremony of ‘entering the kraal'.
The 47-year-old Prince Misuzulu is challenged by his brothers Prince Buzabazi kaZwelithini and Prince Simakade kaZwelinthini.
