Johannesburg is set to peak at 28 degrees celsius on Tuesday, while Pretoria will rise to 30 degrees.

Forecaster Dipuo Tawana says temperatures are set to drop in Gauteng later this week due to a cold front moving through the inland.

"We are still expecting cold conditions on the southern parts of the country. We looking at the province of the Eastern Cape, the Western Cape and the southern parts of the Northern Cape due to the cold front that is moving through the central  parts of the country.

"We are still expecting rain over the Eastern Cape and the southern part of KwaZulu-Natal, even snowfall on high peaks on the Drankensburg mountain this evening. But there is only a 30% probability of showers and thundershowers.

"The temperatures are expected to start dropping in the Free State tomorrow.  On Thursday we are expecting the cold weather to move to Mpumalanga and the southern part of Gauteng. Winter's not over yet, we only expect winter to end by the end of this month," she adds.
