Driver dies as taxi smashes into tree in Bloemfontein
Updated | By ANA
A man was killed in the early hours of Sunday morning when the minibus taxi he was driving crashed into a tree on Paul Kruger Road in Bloemfontein, Free State paramedics said.
ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said paramedics were alerted to the scene, and on arrival, found a minibus against a large tree. The front of the taxi had been completely smashed inwards.
“On assessment, paramedics found that the driver of the minibus lay trapped inside the vehicle and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately the patient had already succumbed to his injuries and was later declared dead.
“His body was later removed by fire services, who had to use the jaws-of-life. Local authorities were on scene for further investigations,” Meiring said.
