Gauteng Chairperson Abel Mositsa says some members of the association have already started gathering at the various traffic departments.

“We have decided to have a national march whereby we will be closing all 38 traffic departments in Gauteng. We’ve got 7 regions in Gauteng, all members in our regions are there at the traffic departments. They are closing and the leadership will be in Centurion from 7:30,” says Mositsa.

The march by the driving school association follows a demonstration outside the Sandton Traffic Department on Thursday over the online booking system.

Mositsa says the association is calling for the immediate scrapping of the online booking system.

“We are complaining about this online system. It is not helping our members and it is not helping the public. This online system must be scrapped.”

The independent driving school operators further demand that all the driving and license testing centres be fully re-opened and operate at 100 % capacity.

The online system was introduced during the Covid-19 lockdown to ensure service could continue, while observing the necessary coronavirus measures.

Members of the public have been warned to stay away from any licensing departments across the country.
